I’ve never tried a powder based face wash before. I have combination oily skin and found this helped the oiliness of my skin. I just dampen my palm with water, shake a handful of this unscented powder, and mix it in the same hand. TIP: After you are finish using it, “gently” set it down or the powder may fly up from the force. There are some granules in it (think of the texture of powder detergent) that help to gently scrub and exfoliate my face. After rinsing, my skin feels super clean without irritation. I alternate this with a gentler face wash throughout the day as this tends to leave my skin on the drier side. I will also apply a good serum and moisturizer afterwards to keep my face hydrated. This powder will last me awhile as I’m not even close to needing the refill that comes with it. After consistent use, I have found my skin appears brighter and less oily!

Make sure your hands are really wet, and pour about a teaspoon in your palms and mix it around. Massage into your face avoiding your eyes, and rinse. It doesn’t hurt like other gritty exfoliators. This is my go too for a mild exfoliate and it also adds a brightness with mild scent like rice cooking. I really like how this feels on the skin, and how it removes all my makeup.
So downside to this, which is just advice really, don't leave this in your shower. Remember this is rice flour like consistency and left with the humidity of the shower it will condense together and than you have to knock it on a counter to break it up. I keep mine in my room.

I initially got the travel size to try this out because I wasn't sure how I'd like this product. I'm not big on chemical exfoliants because of how sensitive my skin is, but I needed something better than a konjac sponge to get my dead skin off without over-exfoliating and damaging my skin barrier (you'll know if that happens, you'll feel stinging and/or you'll get extremely dry patches of skin that aren't necessarily dead skin). This actually works for me. I don't necessarily do it every day, because I have a harsher physical exfoliant I use once or twice a week to get certain spots on my face and neck I know get really bad buildup, but on the other days this is amazing for the upkeep. As such, I bought the full-size and refill bundle so I'll be good for a long while.
On a side note, I attached a video of something I found really funny with the packaging. There is an anti-tampering sticker on the top part of the box, but there is full, unadulterated access to the bottom of the box and no one would be the wiser (at least regarding the refill, since the main bottle is difficult to get out from the bottom). Someone from Dermalogica should prooooobably look into fixing that, since it kind of renders the "anti-tampering" sticker moot if you can just...flip the box over haha I am trying to think of how to refill my travel sized one mess-free for, well, travel, since according to online searches the company claims it should be refillable.
